Justice Transitions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has worked since 2006 to help adults re-entering society succeed at home, and to remove the barriers that lead people back to prison.
Who we are
Established in 2006, Justice Transitions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves at-risk adults in our communities through diverse and varied coalitions.
We work with other organizations to build successful re-entry programs and to remove the barriers and obstacles that increase recidivism and hold people back.
How we work
- Restorative Justice
- We focus on repairing harm, bringing accountability, healing and restoration to the people affected by crime rather than punishment alone.
- Circles of Support and Accountability
- We follow the COSA model, where trained community volunteers meet regularly with a person returning home, offering practical support while holding them accountable to a safe, law-abiding life.
- Partnership
- We work alongside other organizations so that people leaving confinement find programs, services and a community ready for them.
Our mission
Justice Transitions seeks to end the cycle of crime and violence by helping people re-entering society make the transition from confinement to freedom, in an environment that gives them the greatest likelihood of success in their community.
We extend the methods of restorative justice through therapy, education and programming that empower victims and those at risk toward full restoration, wherever appropriate and possible.
